Back in 2005 Cluster Bomb Unit did a tour of Asia. donotconsume Records of Malaysia put out this partial discography CD for them to sell on the tour. Life on the Edge Records repressed 150 copies it at some point. I've seen this floating around elsewhere, but the rips were of dubious quality. I found a copy on Velted Regnub Distribution for a very reasonable price so I figured I'd rip it and throw it up here.

Chest Pain/Naw Dude - split

Artist: Chest Pain/Naw Dude
Title: split
Release: 2009
Label: Depleted Resource Records

Track List:
1. Chest Pain - Sexfear
2. Chest Pain - Brave New Bullshit
3. Chest Pain - Murderers
4. Chest Pain - Carcinogen
5. Chest Pain - Mass Produced Death
6. Naw Dude - Displacer Beast
7. Naw Dude - Failure Pile
8. Naw Dude - Posi Creep
9. Naw Dude - Violent Pizza

Since I've already posted Chest Pain's discography tape I'm mostly posting this for the Naw Dude side. I was kinda surprised that someone else hasn't posted this elsewhere (at least if someone has Google ain't finding it). If you've been here before the Chest Pain side of this split should be pretty familiar. Super fast, super pissed, super tight hardcore. The Naw Dude side is similar, but not so much so that you can't tell the difference between the two.

Hot Butter - Popcorn (Version Originale)

Artist: Hot Butter
Title: Popcorn (Version Originale)
Release: 1972
Label: Barclay Records

Track List:
1. Popcorn
2. At the Movies

Here's the 7" single version of "Popcorn" by Hot Butter from 1972. It's much closer to the Gershon Kingsley version than the M&H Band version.

This one is not from my collection. However it is from a FLAC rip of the record that I was able to find a while ago. I was listening to a local school district radio station a few months ago and this song came on. Normally they play more traditional 70's pop with a little bit of early 80's thrown in. Which is to say, nothing that sounds like "Popcorn". Thanks to Shazam I was able to identify the song. It took a while, but I was finally able to download a good rip of the single version. I converted the FLAC files to mp3 for convenience.

M&H Band - Popcorn

Artist: M&H Band
Title: Popcorn
Release: 1988
Label: Touch Records

Track List:
1. Popcorn (Butter Mix)
2. Popcorn (Reddenbacher Mix)
3. Popcorn (Radio Mix)
4. Popcorn (Jiffy Pop Mix)
5. Ordinopaso

I don't think I've been this excited about a record find in a while. Just a warning, this is not punk, at all. It's still awesome so that's why I'm posting it. If you're a fan of electronic music this is a must download in my opinion.

The song "Popcorn" has a bit of a history to it. Originally recorded in 1969 by Gershon Kingsley for his album "Music to Moog By". Hot Butter recorded their own cover of it in 1972. It was apparently the first electronic song to chart in America. Since then dozens of artists have covered "Popcorn". This 12" single by M&H is my favorite version that I've heard so far. Each mix has an Italio Disco feel to it that I think is perfect for the song.

For an in depth look at this song and all the artists who have covered it check out the Wikipedia page.

pg. 99 Reunion Show

Best night of my life.

It's kinda odd to know that, at least when it comes to experiences involving music, you've peaked at 26.

I flew out from DFW to Richmond for this show. I never fly anywhere for shows. But, I never saw them before they broke up so I've been waiting 8 or so years for this. I don't think I can write anything that will do the anticipation, the excitement, and sense of joyful release I felt even an ounce of justice.

Being in a room packed with total strangers but feeling as if every single one of them is on the same wavelength as myself is something really special. Few bands can make that happen. pg. 99 is one of them.

Major thanks to joshuashomburg for uploading their entire set.

Pyramids - Following the Tracks, Forcing Motion Through Phases

Artist: Pyramids
Title: Following the Tracks, Forcing Motion Through Phases
Release: 2006
Label: Slave Union

Track List:
1. Stationed
2. Drifting
3. Sleep Spindles & K-Complexes
4. Slow Wave
5. Delta
6. Paradoxical
7. Lucid

Sprawling, beautiful, and to use a disgustingly cliche word: epic screamo with a slathering of post-rock from Philadelphia. I'm definitely way late on this album but I suppose that's better than never. "Sleep Spindles & K-Complexes" is my favorite track. Very City of Caterpillarish.

As with any screamo you'll likely have a hard time understanding the lyrics. I haven't read them yet, but apparently this whole album is a metaphorical train ride. An odd concept, but the little bits of spoken word or nearly sung lyrics aren't as goofy as that may sound.

Profound - Integrity

Artist: Profound
Title: Integrity

Label: Anti-Schelski Records

Track List:
1. Push to Start
2. Face the Fight
3. Suffer for My Choice
4. Bow for the Bucks
5. X's for Respect
6. Woflpack (D.Y.S.)

Profound is a decent enough West German ripoff of Judge and Slapshot. The D.Y.S. cover is actually pretty cool. Anti-Schelski records latter became known as Crucial Response records so all subsequent represses were on that label.

Bread and Water/Reason of Insanity - split

Artist: Bread and Water/Reason of Insanity
Title: split
Release: 2011
Label: Burrito Records

Track List:
1. Bread and Water - Keep Walking
2. Bread and Water - One Day
3. Bread and Water – Entertainment
4. Reason of Insanity – Expendable
5. Reason of Insanity – No Good Intentions
6. Reason of Insanity – Battle Hymn
7. Reason of Insanity – L.P.P.D.
8. Reason of Insanity – Clouded Judgment
9. Reason of Insanity - Outro

Bread and Water was a bit before my time, which is a shame, because they're one of the better hardcore bands to come out of Dallas in the last 10 or 15 years. I know absolutely nothing about Reason of Insanity except that their mailing address is Lafeyette, LA so I guess that's where they're from.

Bread and Water is notable for the dual male/female vocals. That's not something you see often in hardcore. I might get flak for saying this but they remind me of a way more punk version of Circle Takes the Square, but really only for that reason.

On the other side, Reason of Insanity offers up five very short songs and one outro track. The music is pretty simple hardcore, heavy sounding, but nothing fancy. My guess is that they were probably much better live. That isn't to say their side is bad, but considering how good the Bread and Water side is it's hard to find much of a reason to flip the record over. I love the lyrics to L.P.P.D. though.

On a related note, my buddy Jason Warhammer has recently started his own label, Timekiller Records. His first offering is a DVD of Bread and Water's last show. I don't think he has a website or anything, but you can definitely contact him at jasonjamesdesign@yahoo.com to inquire about it. I believe it's $15 + postage.

The Gaia - No.1

Artist: The Gaia
Title: No.1
Release: 1994
Label: Six Weeks Records

Track List:
1. You Are No. 1
2. No Sleep. No Dream
3. Dream Machine
4. Why Not?
5. Boys (The Beatles)
6. なだれ

I can't say I know much about this band other than they were all female, from Tokyo, and are totally awesome. If you're familiar with Six Weeks Records and haven't heard The Gaia then you probably know what you're getting into anyways. Fast loud hardcore that verges on the edge of what some might call power violence. As far as this record goes it's definitely just straight up hardcore punk. Track 5 is cover of The Beatles.

Artist: Masakari
Title: Sleep // Rot

Track List:

2. Rot

I would have posted this sooner but I still use my parent's house as my mailing address. I've probably mentioned before that I love Masakari. If I haven't I'm saying it now. They're as bad ass live as they are recorded.

This record is sadly only one sided with a mere two songs. One very short, the other a little longer, but both awesome. The B side is blank with some cool art silk screened on it.

So...

Chaos in Tejas was a blast as usual. I got to see every band I wanted to and then some. It's kind of hard to believe it is over. I still haven't slept since yesterday.

I have a bit of a request. If anyone out there reading this has pictures or video from Chaos in Tejas this year please upload it somewhere and post a link here! Travis from California, you better post that picture from the Origin of M set at Beerland!

I promise I'm not going to get in the habit of non-download posts but there will be a few more in the next few days or weeks. To make up for it when I get home I'll repost a giant list of links to stuff by bands that played that I posted on a message board a few months back.

Artist: Data Age
Title: Mindscape
Release: 1982
Label: Data Age

Track List:
1. Mindscape

This doesn't belong here. At. All. But it was such an odd find at Half Price Books I had to post it.

Apparently it was a flexi distributed as a means of marketing several games for the Atari back in 1982. It's more than a tad bit odd.

I've included the cleaned up version as well as an uncleaned version with all the record player static and pops and clicks because I thought it sounded kinda cool with them still there.

No Way I'm in Panic

Artist: Various
Title: No Way I'm in Panic
Release: 1998
Label: Mangrove Label

Track List:
1. Freaks - Faster
2. Flux Cored Wire - Keep
3. Assfort - Ejaculation Remix

This is a pretty awesome compilation featuring three Japanese bands (or is it a three way split?). Freaks and Flux Cored Wire are both fairly typical and fairly good Japanese hardcore. Assfort is too, but their track on this is some sort of weird lo-fi remix. Not a whole lot of replay value on that side. But the Freaks/Flux Cored Wire side is fantastic.

Charm - 顰

Artist: Charm
Title: 顰 (Shikami)
Release: 2004
Label: 625 Thrashcore

Track List:
1. 闇よ追って来い
2. 愛憎
3. 無用の助
4. 雨がトンズラ
5. ガラクタ
6. 人因線
7. スクリーン・デス
8. 底なしの閉銷感
9. バビロンの圧勝
10. Rabid Dogs (Corrosion of Conformity)

I picked this one up the same night I got the Fuck on the Beach/Matka Teresa split. This was put out by 625 Thrashcore so you should know what to expect here. They also do a bad ass Corrosion of Conformity cover. I would kill to be at some of their upcoming shows (as of when this post was written).

The name of this 7", 顰 (shikami) means knitted brows or frown and is also a type of mask used in 能 (Noh) plays for portraying angry evil spirits.

This record caught me by surprise in a very unusual way. The A side plays at 33 rpm and the B side plays at 45 rpm. I didn't notice until after I recorded the B side and it was way slower than the A side. I've always wondered if anyone out there has ever done that. I guess the answer is yes.

Also, in case anyone is curious, the tracklist on discogs.com for this 7" is wrong (track 8 specifically). You can double check the scans of the back and inside to see so yourself.

Fuck on the Beach/Matka Teresa - All the World / Untitled

Artist: Fuck on the Beach/Matka Teresa
Title: All the World / Untitled
Release: 2003
Label: Regurgitated Semen Records

Track List:
1. Fuck on the Beach - All the World
2. Fuck on the Beach - Throat or Die
3. Matka Teresa - Society Sucks
4. Matka Teresa - Out of Step
5. Matka Teresa - From Education To...
6. Matka Teresa - Last Pray in the Way to Hell
7. Matka Teresa - Restricted (Rot)

Fuck yeah! I've been looking for this one for a long time. I love Fuck on the Beach and a good digital copy of this split with Amsterdam grindcore outfit Matka Teresa has been impossible to find. Fortunately, Matt from Wild//Tribe had a copy in his awesome distro, Punk Alive Records, at a show this past evening. He doesn't have anything up for sale on his blog right now, but he said he would soon. You should definitely check it out. His prices are almost too fair.

Four Hundred Years - Transmit Failure (reissue)

Artist: Four Hundred Years
Title: Transmit Failure (reissue)
Release: 2004 (originally 1998)
Label: Lovitt Records

Track List:
1. Power of Speech
2. Penny for Your Thoughts
3. Radio Silence
4. Transmit Failure
5. An Hour too Late
6. Motion Sickness
7. Throw Spark
8. Sequence
9. Give Us This Day
10. Line Breaker
11. Untitled

Since I had somehow never even heard of this band until two days ago I'm just going to be quoting their bio from amazon.com...

Four Hundred Years were not merely a band, but a phenomenon. A force of emo/hardcore intensity that began in Tucson, Arizona, following the end of Groundwork, they eventually migrated to Richmond, Virginia. Four Hundred Years amassed a large, frenzied, and rabid audience. Intelligent and intricate with a perfect blend of melody and dissonance in all the right places, Four Hundred Years had unparalleled abilities to captivate their listeners and turn them loose on an unsuspecting music world. Alternative Press noted, "Combined with the weight of their political views, the tension of Four Hundred Years' music is simultaneously a catharsis and a call to arms."

Four Hundred Years toured Europe, Japan, and America numerous times and played with such notables as Fugazi, Frodus, Sleepytime Trio, and many more. Upon the completion of recording The New Imperialism, their third full-length, they played four final shows on the east coast and disbanded.

This reminds me of a ton of other awesome early emo bands so if you like that kind of stuff and like me haven't heard of this band before you'll love this. "An Hour too Late" is pretty much the definition of goosebump inducing emotional release.

As usual, if you like it consider buying it.

Proclamation - Straight Edge Hardcore

Artist: Proclamation
Title: Straight Edge Hardcore
Release: 1998
Label: Bridge 9 Records

Track List:
1. Straight Edge Hardcore
2. What It Takes
3. ...In the Family
4. Glorify the Lies
5. You Should Pay
6. On the Rise
7. Torn Apart
8. You Gave In

This is really cheesy straight edge hardcore (obviously) from Boston in the mid-90's. I realize that at the time this band was forming that this style of hardcore with these kind of lyrics probably wasn't quite as cliched as it is now. But that doesn't do much to keep this EP from seeming like a parody. I'd be lying if I said I didn't like it, but I'd also be lying if I said it was good.

Here's some more info on Proclamation and this particular record. If you like this you can actually get it on CD as part of an early singles collection from Bridge 9 Records still. And for an extremely fair price of six dollars.

Track List:
1. No Side
2. Case
3. Public Cicle
4. Wa-Ka-Me
5. さらけだせ
6. 究極
7. バカコケ
8. 人間狩り
9. Panic
10. 工場
11. Medium
12. 金 (Live)
13. I Love You (Live)
14. Dead Body (Live)

Classic hardcore (punk) from Tokyo with female vocals. This is a reissue of their 1983 LP "No Side" with 3 additional live tracks.

I generally hate it when bands are described as being "female fronted". I think if the music is good then whether it's a dude or a girl singing is largely irrelevant. But given that The Comes are from the early 80's I can't help but imagine that having a female hardcore vocalist made them quite the exception. I mean, it would even today, but I just suspect more so back then. This isn't just boys fun, but you have to admit the gender ratio sure is pretty skewed.

I've read someone in this band went on be in Lip Cream. Not sure who though.

Ogreish Organism - 4th Pill

Artist: Ogreish Organism
Title: 4th Pill
Release: 1995
Label: H.G.Fact

Track List:
1. 4th Pill
2. 孤高の戦士

I'll be honest, when I bought this I had no idea what I was getting. At the time my knowledge of hardcore from outside the US was limited pretty much to just a few of the bigger bands from Europe. In retrospect this may have been one of the best scores I've ever made considering I got this for 99 cents plus 2 dollars shipping if my memory serves me correctly. All I knew when I placed the bid was that it was a cheap record from a label I'd heard a few people mention before.

Before I even mention who is in this band I want to make one thing 100% clear, the music holds its own regardless of the band's pedigree. The B side is definitely superior, but mostly because its extended intro is more to the point. The vocals might take some getting used to if you're not already a fan of the style. But, my God, the guitar riffs and the bass are over the top good.

Now for the part I would be remiss not to mention. Pill, the drummer and vocalist was the drummer for Lip Cream, G-Zet, Asylum, and High Rise, as well as the vocalist for G-Zet and キャ→ (Kyah→). Bass player Tomonori Iizawa was the bassist for Bastard and Judgement and guitar player for Buzzy大和町バンド (Buzzy Yamatocho Band). And Chelsea (RIP), it'd probably be easier to just list bands he wasn't in.

New Brutalism - Turbo Record!

Artist: New Brutalism
Title: Turbo Record!
Release: 2002
Label: ABC Group Documentation

Track List:
1. 056.00
2. 056.25
3. 056.50
4. 056.75

Hooray for the bargain bin! I'm not normally one for "noise rock" or whatever the kids these days call it, but this short record by Knoxville's New Brutalism isn't bad at all. I'll be honest though, I had to google them to find out what genre one might call them because when I was listening to this record I couldn't quite peg it myself. I bet some folk consider that a good thing. Apparently all of their instruments are hand made out of aluminum.

Track List:
1. Sarcastic Bitch - Tea Party
2. Goodnite Moon - Tummysuck
3. Make a Wish - Fifteen Traumas

This is a quiet little compilation of quiet indie rock (for lack of a better description). Not necessarily my cup of tea, but I figured someone might enjoy this.

Cosigner - Cosigner

Artist: Cosigner
Title: Cosigner
Release: 2000
Label: Visalian Records

Track List:
1. Soft and Drowsy Song
2. Left to the Quiet
3. Lift Me or I'll Surely Run
4. Maduro

I thought for sure this would be some kind of late 90's emo when I bought this record based solely on the cover. I was wrong, but this is still pretty good indie pop so it was 50 cents well spent.

Cosigner has a blog of their own. The last post was in April of 2009. I dunno if they just haven't kept up with it or if they're still around at all.

There's a couple of very small skips that I tried my hardest to fix. I suspect only one of them will be noticeable at all. Sadly I cannot say this is a perfect rip because I can still notice them. But I know where to expect them so you might not even hear them.

Scarred for Life - Is This the Price of Freedom?

Artist: Scarred for Life
Title: Is This the Price of Freedom?
Release: 2003
Label: Despotic Records

Track List:
1. Powers that Be
2. Empty Promises
3. M.O.A.B.
4. Aftermath of War
5. Wage Slavery
6. Corporate Genocide
7. Grinding Us Down

This is fairly straightforward crusty hardcore with fairly cliched lyrics. I don't mean that in a bad way at all. Because this is actually pretty good. It's just that you've probably heard it all before. But as I've said before, if you have a problem with that you probably don't like punk anyways.

Desolation - Rest in Panic

Artist: Desolation
Title: Rest in Panic
Release: 2010
Label: Prank Records

Track List:
1. Rest in Panic
2. Boxed In
3. No Steps Forward

Sugi's terrific artwork kinda gives it away, but just in case you hadn't guessed, this is Japanese influenced crusty hardcore. From San Francisco, Desolation features members of Born/Dead, Strung Up, and Scurvy Dogs. That's about all I know about this band. This 7" is pretty damn good.

I think Prank's mailorder is sold out, but you might still be able to find this elsewhere if you look.

Title: 貧乏ゆすりのリズムに乗って
Release 2007
Label: XXX Records

Track List:
1. 39℃
2. 出稼ぎ船 (Dekasegi Fune, Migrant Boat)
3. すっぱい匂い (Suppai Nioi, Sour Stench)
4. しょんべん横丁 (Shonben Yokochou, Piss Alley)
5. 大きなサツマイモ (Ooki na Satsumaimo, Big Sweet Potato)
6. 開かずの踏切 (Kazu Hiraku Fumikiri, Kazu Hiraku Crossing)
7. メシ喰え (Meshi Kue, Eat)
8. 愛しき不器用者 (Itoshi Ki Bukiyou Mono, Dear Bungler)
9. みっともない (Mittomonai, Shameful)
10. 貧乏ゆすりのリズムに乗って (Binbou Yusurino Rizumu ni Notte, Blackmail, the Rhythm of Poverty)

I've been meaning to post this for a while now. This is Gauze's latest record, from 2007. You know what to expect here, fast thrashy Japanese hardcore. 13 songs in 10 minutes! That's what I like to hear.

If you downloaded this before 5:45 CST on March 4th, 2011 please redownload this as I originally posted a rip from another blog. I forgot I had downloaded a FLAC copy of this album but hadn't converted it to mp3 yet.

The Creatures of the Golden Dawn - The Clown with the Broken Crown

Artist: The Creatures of the Golden Dawn
Title: The Clown with the Broken Crown
Release: 1991
Label: Dionysus Records

Track List:
1. The Clown with the Broken Crown
2. I Don't Need Your Love
3. Living in Sarah's Lies

Once again my ability to pick nuggets of gold out of the bargain bin has proven itself to be quite prodigious. But seriously, this record was actually a pretty good find. I bought it because the band's name is weird and it's a really pretty color of blue marble. I love blue marble. I didn't expect this to be any good, but it turns out The Creatures of the Golden Dawn play a sort of throwback 60's garage punk. I say throwback because they got their start in the late 80's or early 90's it seems. Information about them is somewhat sparse and tends to always be a footnote to the singer's later career.

Were the recording quality of this not as good I think one could be forgiven for mistaking this record as being from the 60's. It's got that simple poppy rock and roll song structure that every one hit wonder from that decade seems to have had. But with a slightly less polished feel. In many ways like very very early punk rock, from before anyone called it that. Except Creatures of the Golden Dawn was apparently riding the trailing edge of a wave of a revival of that style.

Slave One - Full Circle

Artist: Slave One
Title: Full Circle
Release: 1998
Label: Redwood Records

Track List:
1. Full Circle
2. Blurred Vision

I think it's time for some metallic 90's hardcore. Fort Worth style.

Slave One reminds me of a bunch of different things; His Hero Is Gone, Rorschach, and even Amebix (but only a little bit). They were active from 1996 to 1999 so it's not too surprising they had a really heavy metal sound to them. Unfortunately that was a bit before my time so while they are from around these parts I can't say I know much about them. Members later went on to be in Garuda, Caddis, and Matt (guitar) is currently in Raging Boner. Next time I see them I'll be sure to ask about this band.

Title: Death Stripes
Release: 2008

Track List:
1. Death Stripes
2. Texas Ripper
3. Loki's Traffic Jam
4. Drinking Hell

One last EP from Unit 21. This is probably their best work under that name. If you can manage to listen to this without pumping your fist then you're probably too old to lift your arm above your head anyways.

Once again Sugi did the artwork. And once again, goddamn.

4. Let's Have Fun
5. Soccer Mom
6. Brain Shred
7. We Continue
8. Rise Fall Repeat
9. Empire Laid to Waste
10. Strangle the Reason

An appropriately named album if I've ever seen one. "Brain Shred" marks a dramatic improvement in terms of song writing and playing for Unit 21. Not that they were bad before, but this record is much more cohesive and polished. Those are usually dirty words for anything remotely DIY but I say just because it's punk doesn't mean it can't be done well.

Here's an old one from Dallas punks Unit 21. This one's got lots of dual vocals, shredding guitars, and occasional hints of melody. To be honest it isn't quite as good as some of their later material but you can definitely see where things were headed.

16. The Rotters - Men
18. A.F.U. - High on the Hog
19. Stalag 13 - Statistic
20. Stalag 13 - Do It Right

Oxnard, California (and the surrounding area) has had a fantastic hardcore scene for nearly 30 years now. This compilation from 1984 is testament to the early years of Nardcore.

This was reissued on CD at some point by Mystic Records. I downloaded what I'm pretty sure was a rip of the CD and it sounded like shit. Sometimes when record labels repress long out of print records onto CD rather than use the original masters (often because they no longer exist) they will essentially do what I do and make a recording of the record playing and digitize it. When there's no other option doing that isn't necessarily a bad thing. However, sometimes whoever is responsible doesn't even make an attempt to clean up the audio and it's painfully obvious you're hearing a vinyl rip. I'm fairly certain that's what happened with the CD reissue of this compilation. This rip however has been cleaned up substantially.

This was another random find at Entertainmart, a large used DVD, CD, and video game store with a large but mostly meh vinyl selection.

Just a fair warning: the lyrics to "Men" by The Rotters are extremely homophobic and offensive. I'm not sure if they're tongue-in-cheek parody or serious. Either way it's kind of unfortunate that that song is on what is otherwise a stellar compilation.

Hoover - The Lurid Traversal of Route 7

Artist: Hoover
Title: The Lurid Traversal of Route 7
Release: 1994
Label: New Renaissance Records

Track List:
1. Distant
2. Pretender
3. Electrolux
4. Shut
5. Route 7
6. Regulator Watts
7. Father
8. Cable
9. Letter
10. Cuts Like Drugs
11. Return
12. Private
13. Dries

What little I know about Hoover comes from Discord website so I might as well just copy and paste it since I have very little to add.

By the early 1990s, DC had become well-known in the underground music scene and had become a destination for people looking for a place to land after leaving their hometowns. Because many of the people moving into town were musicians, a number of new bands featuring these transplants began to spring up and, probably owing to their unique perspective on what was happening here, they brought with them new interpretations of the music. One of these bands was Hoover. Ian MacKaye had met most of the members in their respective towns over the years while on tour with his band, Fugazi, and rolled in the same circles when they moved to DC. Their early shows convinced him to go into Inner Ear with them to record their first single, which was released as a Dischord/Hoover Limited half-label. Later they would record an album for Dischord with Geoff Turner at WGNS studios, but, in keeping with the DC tradition, in 1994 after two short years the band broke up.

This is really good stuff. From a time that now seems long ago and nearly forgotten except by a few who choose to hang on. When "emo" was just a superfluous word for emotional hardcore. I'll spare you the rant about how bastardized the word has become. If you're a fan of the "D.C. Sound" you probably already know about this album.

This is the 2005 reissue with additional tracks. I encoded this from a perfect FLAC rip I downloaded.

Like everything from Dischord (to my knowledge anyways) this has never gone out of print and can still be purchased. As usual if you like it you should at least consider purchasing it since it's still available.

Kublai Khan - Annihilation

2. Mongrel Horde
3. Down to the Inferno
4. Liars Dice
5. Passing Away
6. Kublai Khan
7. Clash of the Swords
8. Battle Hymn (The Canturian)

I found this album posted on another blog and was pretty impressed by it. It's really nothing terribly unique or exceptional. But it's still a fun listen if you enjoy thrash metal. "Mongrel Horde" is probably the best song on this album.

The copy I downloaded elsewhere sounded like absolute shit. So, I was pretty happy when I found a lossless rip of this album made from a CD copy. The recording quality is pretty bad. Or maybe it's just the way it was mixed. But I always say it's better that that be the bottleneck for sound quality not the way it was encoded to mp3.
